Description
SYBC is a classical ballet school and youth company located in downtown Parkersburg, WV. In constant operation in the Mid-Ohio Valley since 1965, SYBC is led by founder and artistic director, Velma Schrader. The mission of SYBC is two-fold: to train young dancers in classical ballet technique and to provide quality classical ballet and other dance performances for local public and school audiences.
SYBC dancers frequently study at university, conservatory and company summer programs before continuing their post-secondary education at prestigious schools, and many grow in to professional dancers and performers, working and entertaining worldwide.
Company performances annually include “The Nutcracker (Clara’s Dream)” as well as an End-Term Spring Performance for SYB School Students. Throughout the year, SYBC frequently guest performs with partnering art organizations in the MOV.
