In the words of Leslie Knope, “What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year.” Played by Amy Poeheler on the television series “Parks and Rec,” Leslie Knope invented Galentine’s Day as a day to celebrate the smart, kind and beautiful women in our lives. She said, “every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.”
And this year – we’re doing just that! Instead of breakfast, however, we will be enjoying something sweeter! Bring your lady friends and join us at the Historic Oakland Estate (1131 7th St, Parkersburg, WV 26101), at 1 and 5 p.m. on Feb. 11, for a Galentine’s Day dessert decorating event. The Sprinkled Flamingo Bakery will teach class-goers their secrets to decorating sugar cookies and chocolate covered strawberries! All desserts will be premade and class go-ers will only be decorating them.
Cost of the class is $20. Tickets are limited, so be sure and reserve yours early. Proceeds from the event will go towards upkeep of the Mansion. Light refreshments will be provided.
