This special Mansion Foodways Tour explains the role that food played
in the daily lives of the Blennerhassett family and their neighbors.
The term Foodways is defined as an in-depth look at people (the Blennerhassett Family) in a location (Blennerhassett Island) and examines the procurement, the preparation,
and the presentation of food on their table.
As the tour participants walks through the Mansion we will learn about the foods of the time period and how the success of social entertainment at the Blennerhassett Mansion depends upon food whether it was a dinner in the formal Dining Room, Tea in the Parlor, or refreshments at an Evening of Dancing. Explore seasonality, cooking methods, and food preservation in the Summer Kitchen. Step back in time with us. This is an exceptional tour and unique to the island.
The cost of this one-hour event is $5.00 for adults.
Call the Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park
